Are you the artist or canvas?

Posted in Uncategorized on October 9, 2013 by obiggman

Hello there! how you doing? did you know that you could be the canvas that some mischievous amateur artist uses for practice? well, if you put yourself in that situation you’ll be one cool canvas.Simply put,the joke would be on you. When it comes to drinking, you could decide to drink responsibly and be the artist or you could get wasted, faded, tinted or whatever else you use to describe someone who drinks himself to stupour. Learn from this ad by DDB Auckland, New Zealand.

Canvas of Life! Lol

I think its funny and effectively passes the message that you should drink responsibly or not at all. Did it do justice? Use the comment box and tell me what you think. Remember, if you’re going to drink & drive, drink H2O! Drink responsibly folks.

6 ways to think positively

Posted in Uncategorized on October 2, 2013 by obiggman

Hi there! i trust you’ve been OK? well i haven’t. I’ve been going through a rough patch but guess what? I’ve learnt to see things differently. By differently, i mean look on the bright side. Be positive. this job vacancy ads by PlayArte pictures about “the man who saw things differently” really inspired me. Have a look.Image

Someone had the vision to see the phone differently…

And music is now portable and can be in your pocket…

i was inspired especially because in Nigeria today, many people lack jobs, basic amenities and things don’t seem to be improving. But it could be worse. We need to have faith and if we can see things differently, they are! It can only get better.

Here are a few things I’ve learnt.

1. It can only get better. Always believe that things could be worse. i mean think about it, if things could be worse they are certainly better innit? Lol i thought so.

2.Have faith. don’t focus on all the negativity you see but on what you want and believe should be.

3. Use your mind. the mind is our power machine. what you think, you are. so think positive. Dream will come to pass!

4. Let your actions work with your mindset. its not enough to believe that great things will happen. you need to start working towards it. until it becomes your reality.

5. Be content but not complacent. Thomas Edison said “Everything comes to he who hustles while he waits” this is one of my favourite quotes because it means that you should be content. Focus on what you have and maximise it, instead of being greedy. but still aspire to do more and achieve greatness. Your “hustle” is your job, business or passion whatever you make a living from. So, like Jay-Z says in one of the hits off his Magna Carta Holy Grail album, “don’t be good ma nigga, be great”

6. Be open. I’ve learnt that talent is never enough and there are other privileges that help us succeed in life. One thing you can do is always be open to learning everything you can. You’ll be the better for it!

Nigeria is 53, so its too not late to say Happy Independence Nigeria! let’s see ourselves as people who aren’t corrupt and act accordingly. Things will get better. See you when i see you… Cheers!

Heads up!

Bald and beautiful?

Posted in Uncategorized on July 31, 2013 by obiggman

Hey you, what you been up to? I’ve been busy staying alive and I noticed a hairstethically done ad while at it.
Don’t worry about the strange word; I’m quite sure you’ll figure out …
Have you ever seen the hair on a bald man’s head used to create words?
Well, I just did and I think it’s clever. Lowe Singapore did a nice job for Clear Anti-hair fall Shampoo.Although they’re offering a solution for falling hair, they make being bald quite attractive don’t you think?
i don’t know how true the copy is but its funny too. Enjoy

Bald: the new sexy

So what do you think? Did they succeed in making you see the beautiful side of being bald?
For those with falling or receding hair,   would you want to use Clear Shampoo?  Speak out in the comment box.

Is writing with a Pen now old school?

Posted in Uncategorized on July 17, 2013 by obiggman

Halos! its been a while. hope you’re good and still doing what you and doing it well? Cool!
I’ve been AWOL for a while cos of work and maybe i didn’t find anything captivating..oh well, I’m here.
I’m alive and thankful. so check this out
Do you think that using a Biro or pen is old school?

This question arises whenever a colleague of mine, Segun gets teased about not having a pen.
Why don’t you have a pen? What kind of Copywriter doesn’t have a pen or Biro as we call it most times?
The writing Pen is old school, he responds smugly while shrugging it off like Jay-Z in his song
“Dirt off your shoulders.” “We are digital copywriters”, I say to back him up and because honestly,
our pens get borrowed so many times that we end up borrowing our own pens back.
You would agree that these days most people work with their smartphones, notebooks, laptops or desktops.
Thus, most writers work more with computers nowadays. “ Una dey tint?!,”my art director colleague and friend,
Bizkit would ask. Act like you know and catch up folks.
This right here is an impressive self-promo sort of CV cum ad
that I like and guess what?
It was done by a digital Copywriter! Check it out

People are not dulling oh…digital copy writing

Dumb ways to die

Posted in Uncategorized on June 21, 2013 by obiggman

hello there, whats been happening to you? its great to be alive isn’t it?
i feel blessed and thankful for another opportunity to live.
that’s why we should do what we can to stay alive. why so in love with life? someone may ask. Because we have a purpose to change the world for better.
it’s my nephew Samuel’s birthday today. Seems like yesterday when he was a
cute little baby ushered into the world.i can’t believe he’s 3years already.
He loves watching Barney and friends series and is more curious than a cat.
I’m glad he’s survived some of the dangers of playing with fire, running off without warning,
looking at some place other than where he’s going… the list is endless.
I’m glad he’s alive and well. God willing, he’ll live to fulfill his purpose.
This brings me to an interesting campaign by McCann Melbourne about safety around trains. it shows various ways that would be absolutely dumb if one died in such situations,
at least if they could help it.According to Adweek, The three-minute music video shows adorable blobs making the stupidest decisions ever—messing with animals,
sticking forks in toasters, eating superglue, etc.—leading to all sorts of gruesome, fatal accidents.
“The dumbest way to die, the ad suggests at the end,
is by being careless around trains.”The idea for a song started from a very simple premise:
What if we disguised a worthy safety message inside something that didn’t feel at all like a safety message?” said McCann executive creative director John Mescall.
“So we thought about what the complete opposite of a serious safety message would be and came to the conclusion it was an insanely happy and cute song.” With more than 30 million YouTube views, it seems happy, cute and grisly was the way to go.
The song begins, “Set fire to your hair/

why would you set your hair on fire? dumb right?

/Poke a stick at a grizzly bear

the bear responds

The song lyrics continue /Eat medicine that’s out of date

/Use your private parts as piranha bait

“before the chorus repeats the two lines, “Dumb ways to die/So many dumb ways to die.”
Mescall wrote most of the lyrics in one night at the agency. “It then took a few weeks of finessing,” he said, “getting rid of a few lines that weren’t funny enough and replacing them with new ones.” The line “Sell both your kidneys on the Internet” was a late inclusion. “I’m glad it’s there. It’s my favorite,” he said. It reminds me of one railway line at Ikeja along bus stop,in Lagos, Nigeria.
People sell all sorts of items from clothes to groceries and its usually a beehive of activity.
but when a train approaches everyone scampers off the tracks.
We stare as we see the people in, on top of and hanging at the trains doors.
holding on for dear life because they can’t afford to fall.
Certainly not! the hustle continues tomorrow. Sometimes we can’t control everything.
Nevertheless,We should all strive to be safe around trains and
prevent others from endangering their lives among other things.
This is what i think “Dumb ways to die” campaign is saying.

Be safe!
